Activation zones

Kids rolled up their sleeves to plant seedlings, dived into the world of bush food, unleashed their creativity in craft activities, mastered the art of preparing nutritious meals and more at our activation zones.

  • Plant a lettuce, parsley or broccoli seedling with Bunnings to take home

  • Play ‘What’s in the box’ with United African Farm

  • View a live observation beehive, taste some delicious honey & create some beeswax candles with Rooftop Bees

  • Visit the OzHarvest van and discover what food sees before it sees you

  • Learn how far your favourite foods have travelled with Monash University

  • Discover the science of food with the CSIRO


 
 

BUY

  • Make your own seasonal shopping baskets with Beci Orpin and watch her paint a beautiful live art installation

  • Play the shopping game with The Community Grocer. You’ll earn grocery dollars to spend on real fruit and veg to take home.

  • Taste delicious fruit and veg with A Better Choice initiative

Join the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation and Monash University at the Eat zone to

  • Create seasonal still-life designs using play-doh

  • Get chatting by playing the Table Talk game.

 
 
 

REcycle

  • Hop on a Smoothie Bike to turn rescued bananas from OzHarvest into delicious smoothies

  • Complete fun activity sheets to learn magic of composting and worm farming and visit one of Costa’s fun workshops!

  • Become a master recycler in Veolia’s sorting game

  • Play the ugly food game with Monash University to discover why ‘ugly’ fruits and veggies help us cut down on food waste.

 

 

Supporting Areas

We had a variety of supporting areas at the festival including quiet spaces, a variety of food trucks and the Little Food Library.

QUIET ZONES

  • The Little Food Library presented by Melbourne Libraries. Sit down to read a book and listen in to a story time reading from Melbourne Libraries wonderful children’s librarians

AIA AUSTRALIA SPINNING WHEEL AND COLOURING ZONE

  • Spin the AIA Australia fruit wheel and get your free piece of fruit

  • Complete some creative colouring with AIA’s large colouring cubes

FACE PAINTING

  • What is your favourite fruit or vegetable? Celebrate healthy eating with a beautiful face paint design thanks to Footprint Group Events

REFLECTION ZONE

  • What action will you take after your fun day at the Little Food Festival? Let us know by casting your vote at the Monash University reflection zone
